Change User Profile

Description

Change User Profile is part of the Construction subsystem within ECMS. It is part of Application Security and it is available to all users.

Change User Profile is the primary mode of changing a user's password. It also allows the user to change phone number, fax number, email address and security question and answer. The email address and security question and answer are retained in order for the user to request their forgotten password via the link in the Navigation bar. After successfully answering the security question, the user's password is emailed to the profile email address.

If the user forgets his/her password, he/she can click on the 'Forgot Your Password?' link on the Navigation bar and that will launch the Automated Password Reset function. NOTE: The user must have previously entered a security question and answer in the user profile to be able to use this function. The Automated Password Reset function is very similar to the Change User Profile function.

Fields

Field Name	State	Description
User ID	Display Only	The User ID of the user changing his/her password.
User Name	Display Only	The name of the registered user changing his/her password.
Phone Number	Editable - Required	A group of fields for entry of the user's password. Numeric characters only.
Fax Number	Editable - Optional	A group of fields for entry of the user's fax number. Numeric characters only.
Email Address	Editable - Required	The email address of the user. Must conform to username@domain conventions.
Question	Required	The security question retained in order to verify a user's identity when requesting a forgotten password. The user may choose which question and answer will be stored and asked of them if they click on the 'Forgot Your Password?' link on the Navigation Bar.
Answer	Required	The answer to the chosen security question that will be used to verify a user's identify when requesting a forgotten password.
Current Password	Editable - Required	The user's current password, i.e. the password used to log on to the current session
New Password	Editable - Optional	The new password that the user wishes to use in the future. Note:ECMS passwords must be at least 6 alphanumeric characters. Spaces are not allowed.
Confirm Password	Editable - Optional	A repeat entry of the new password to ensure that the user has his/her new password properly.

Actions

Action	Description
? (icon)	When the user clicks this icon, they are taken to the screen's "Tell Me About" Help document, which provides a brief screen description, a definition of each field, and a definition of each 'action' (link, button, icon).
Up/Down Arrows (icon)	When the user clicks the up arrow at the top left corner of the display, they are taken to the top of the screen view. When the user clicks the down arrow at the top left corner of the display, they are taken to the bottom of the screen view. TIP: The function buttons such as BACK, EDIT, and SAVE are always located at the extreme bottom of the screen. Use the down arrow to quickly move to the buttons you need.
Back (button)	When the user clicks this button, they are returned to the previous screen in the browser history.
Submit (button)	When the user clicks this button, the changes in the user profile information are saved. If the changes include a change of password, the user will be logged out of the system. The next login will require the new password.
